  David Allan Coe
Dallas Moore and the Snatch Wranglers
Annie's-Cincinnati, Ohio
March 19, 2004

This is a combination that the Cincinnati area never gets tired of seeing. Twice in the last six monthd (or three times in the last 15 months) David Allan Coe and Dallas Moore and The Snatch Wrangles have played Annie's. And always to a huge crowd each time.
Dallas Moore and the Snatch Wranglers are based in the Cincinnati area and frankly are as good-if not better-than any national act you can mention. This night was no exception. From the time they hit the stage until their last song this band was white hot. Their version of Charlie Rich's "Rollin' With The Flow" should be getting national attention. Guitarist Chuck Morpurgo (definitely one of the most underrated guitarists I have ever heard) and Dallas did some double leads that was very much in the style of the Allman Brother's Band's "Blue Sky" on this song. I wish this song was already released and hopefully this year it will be. They did a killer version of Billy Joe Shaver's "Black Rose" as well as "One More Ride" as well as songs from their newest CD "High On The Hog" which is a CD every serious Southern Rock lover should own. They ended the night with a killer version of Steve Earle's "Copperhead Road." The night belonged to them plain and simple.

David Allan Coe's name speaks for itself. He plays the music he wants to no matter what the current trend in Country music and for that he must always command respect. Sitting on a stool for much of his set he played a number of songs from throughout his career. If you weren't familiar with the songs he has written you would be surprised the number of songs he has wriiten that others artists have recorded. The only thing that might disappoint some hard core fans is that he doesn't-and won't be-playing anything from his x-rated CD's. His bassist (sorry I don't know his name) seems to be the band leader and is the glue that holds his band together. DAC's son is the band's lead guitarist and was also very impressive.

I predict that before the year has ended this same lineup will be back at Annie's..the quality evening of musicianship from seeing these two artists together are a good reason why
