Local Country ReleaseMike Breen If you like your Country music rugged and ruthless, you'll want to pick up a copy of the latest CD release from the Dallas Moore Band. Live - Back at the Saddle is (duh) a live recording culled from a couple of shows at area Country bar the Silver Saddle over the last New Year's Eve weekend. Moore's distinct brand of "Outlaw Country" lends itself well to the live setting and the CD presents Moore's well-crafted original songs alongside a few perfectly executed cover tunes from like-minded cowboys like Merle Haggard, Charlie Daniels and Billy Joe Shaver. Moore's Rock-ish spin Country manifests itself in extended guitar solos and the rebel energy and, while that's nothing particularly new, Moore and his band pull it off expertly, an effective balance of musical sophistication and juke-joint rowdiness. As crowds continue to grow for Moore's local shows, it's becoming more and more clear that he is a leading contender to putting Cincinnati on the Country music map. |
